Jeryl Hoover, Executive Director
As founder of Fredericksburg Theater Company in 1997, Jeryl served as managing and artistic director until 2011 during which time he directed twenty-eight productions and played in eighteen. After leaving FTC, he managed a lodging and entertainment venue, then later served as Executive Director of the Gillespie County Historical Society and Pioneer Museum. He is mayor of Fredericksburg, now in his fifth term of public service.
Jeryl is a native Texan, born and raised in Odessa. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Voice Performance from West Texas A&M (formerly West Texas State University) and a Doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
After serving as a minister for fifteen years in Austin, he, wife Ruthann and their three sons moved west to Fredericksburg to begin a new life. Ruthann, a registered nurse and Nurse Educator by profession, served as FTC’s Costume Coordinator until 2011. Jeryl’s sons all remained nearby. Ryan is married to Caitlin, and they have Eli, Molly, and Sadie. John is married to Mary Lou, and they have Pomeranian, Symbaah. Thomas is married to Maggie, residents of Buda, and they have Brooks.
Jeryl returns to FTC with renewed energy and a vision to expand live theater and indeed the arts in general as the premiere cultural icon they should be in the Texas Hill Country.
